Back to University

We left Inverness on a very foggy and wet morning, headed south to the Lowlands of Scotland.

We stopped at Blair Athol, which is a tiny village that has a stunning palace alongside. The crisp white palace is surrounded by acres of land, including deer. There was a camera friendly peacock who seemed very keen to pose for photos. He also competed with the bagpiper who came out to play.

We weren’t allowed to take photos inside, other than the hall that was filled with deer horns. Room after room filled with the luxuries of dukedom. The Duke has the only private army left in Britain, an honour that was granted by Queen Victoria.

We arrived into Edinburgh and discovered our accommodation was part of the University of Edinburgh. Not quite what we were expecting, but it was a good location. We went for a walk into the city and up Calton Hill which gave us a fantastic view of the city and castle.
